Kato will make one of the most famous transcontinental trains, “Olympian Hiawatha” in N scale. Since it debuted as “Olympia” in 1911, this train was continuously in service by changing the train configuration and name several times. The train configuration which will be made into an N-scale model is Milwaukee Road’s Super Dome Olympian Hiawatha that was the train a Super Dome Car was added to for the first time in U.S.A.
Sky top lounge car which was additionally coupled to the very tail end of the train is made in a unique shape composed with many glass pane windows fully covering the rear part of the car - a design no other railroad company had ever employed.
The locomotive F7A was originally used to pull freight trains only, but it was extended 4 feet in the body to house a heating so as to be able to pull a passenger train by itself alone. It is well known that the locomotive in livery of Milwaukee Road with noticeable orange and red pulled Hiawatha by double heading. It was used widely to pull short distance trains etc. as well.
