A7892 Kiha 72 Series "Yufuin no Mori" 5-Car Set
●In 1999, JR Kyushu introduced a new model of train on the "Yufuin no Mori" express train, which connects Hakata with Oita and Beppu via the Kyudai Main Line (Yufuin).
●The four-car diesel train, called the Kiha 72 Series, inherits the design of the Kiha 71 Series that appeared in 1989, and its external features include a semicircular front section and a high-decker body with a metallic green base and gold stripes.
●The running equipment is based on the Kiha 200 Series, and its performance has been improved compared to the Kiha 71 Series, which was a modified JNR-type train.
●The interior has a warm design that makes extensive use of flame-retardant wood, and the third car is equipped with a buffet and semi-compartment seats.
●Another feature is that a high-decker structure has been adopted, including the passage between the cars, and a walkway has been installed on the deck.
●Since July 2015, Kisaha 72-4 has been added and the train is now in service as a 5-car formation.
