98555 HC85 Series Hybrid Car Hida 4-Car
The HC85 series is a hybrid car that was announced in 2019 as a replacement for the limited express "Hida" and "Nanki" operated by the Kiha 85 series, and has begun test runs.
The series uses a hybrid system that runs by driving the motor with electricity generated by the engine and electricity stored in the storage battery, reducing the environmental impact.
Mass-produced cars will be released in 2022, and will begin commercial operation as the limited express "Hida" from July 2022 and the limited express "Nanki" from July 2023.
Like the Kiha 85 series, which ended regular service on the "Hida" in March 2023 and the "Nanki" in June 2023, the series will be flexibly configured according to operation, from a minimum of 2 cars to a maximum of 10 cars.
