It was also the last DC electric locomotive\u003cbr\u003emanufactured by Japanese National Railways (JNR). Over time, some units have been repainted from the newer refurbished\u003cbr\u003escheme back to the original JNR-era color. These changes began in 2017, after all units completed refurbishment and visual\u003cbr\u003einspection markings were no longer necessary.
