Ginga Express
The "Ginga" express train was a night express train that ran between Tokyo and Osaka from 1949 to 2008. The passenger cars used varied over the years, but as the train ran along a major artery, it was made up of first-class carriages, and from 1976 onwards, despite being an express train, it used the 20 series, 14 series, and 24 series 25 type express sleeper cars, as well as successive generations of Blue Train passenger cars. While many express trains were upgraded or discontinued in later years, this night express train continued to operate to the end with a formation consisting only of A and B class sleeper cars.
