Celebrating 30 years of speed and innovation—the iconic 883 Series “Sonic” returns in an updated lineup! As JR Kyushu’s first tilting train (and Japan’s first AC tilting train for commercial service), it introduced a distinctive design: distinctive triple fog lights for the early-production renewal sets, an iconic metallic blue livery since its 2005 refurbishment. 

The real 883 Series “Sonic” won the Japanese rail-industry “Blue Ribbon Award” in 1996 and is considered one of Japan’s most visually distinctive express trains. This AO-1 30th Anniversary set showcases the striking commemorative livery, perfect in combination with the 787 Series “36+3” and other Kyushu-region rolling stock!
