JR EF65-1000 Series Electric Locomotive (Shimonoseki General Rolling Stock Depot, Gray Bogies)
The EF65 series debuted in 1965, with a total of 308 units manufactured.
The EF65-1000 series locomotives stationed at the Shimonoseki General Rolling Stock Depot have undergone modifications since the 2020s, including the repainting of their undercarriages to gray and the installation of air conditioning in the driver's cab.
They were frequently used to haul the "Salon Car Naniwa" on electrified sections of the line, which operated until 2025, and were also used to haul engineering trains such as the Chiki 5500 and Hoki 800 series.
