DF200-200 Series Diesel Locomotive (Unit 201 - "Ai-Me")
The DF200 series is a diesel-electric locomotive developed by JR Freight, first introduced in 1992.
While initially operated exclusively in Hokkaido, some units from the 100-series sub-class were progressively transferred to the Aichi Locomotive Depot starting in 2016, where they were simultaneously modified into the 200-series sub-class.
Since 2023, Unit 201—based at the Aichi Locomotive Depot—has featured a special wrap design inspired by the scenery along the railway lines in Aichi and Mie Prefectures.
Its nickname, "Ai-Me," was selected through a public contest.
