JR E235-1000 Series Train, Yokosuka-Sobu Line Add-On Set
The E235-1000 series is a new train that debuted in December 2020 for the Yokosuka-Sobu Line.
It is the first all-long-seat train in medium-distance ordinary cars, and the only cross-seat cars are Green Cars.
It is also the first to be equipped with a running battery, allowing it to propel itself in emergencies such as power outages.
Another notable feature is that due to space constraints for the emergency power supply, the air tanks previously mounted under the floor of some E234 Moha trains have been moved to the roof.
Some specifications have been revised for the additional cars (F14 and J14) added in 2022, and the signal flares previously mounted on the roof of the front end have been removed. Additionally, the electrical couplers at the front of car 11 and additional car 1 have been removed, and the skirt shape has been redesigned to be the same as that of the 0 series.
Currently, these trains are in service on the Yokosuka and Sobu Lines, as well as the Narita, Kashima, Sobu Main, Sotobo, and Uchibo Lines, which are direct connections to these lines.
