JR Series 14-500 Passenger Cars: "Hamanasu" Add-on Set
The express train "Hamanasu" was an overnight express service connecting Aomori and Sapporo, launched in March 1988 to coincide with the opening of the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line.
By 1997, the train's consist had come to include B-class sleeper cars, "Dream Cars" (reclining seat cars), and carpet cars. While the standard configuration was seven cars, additional B-class sleeper cars and standard seating cars were added during peak travel periods, allowing the train to operate with up to 12 cars.
It supported transportation on the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line until its retirement in March 2016, when the service was discontinued following the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen. ● Recreates the Express "Hamanasu" that connected Aomori and Sapporo.
● An add-on set for the Express "Hamanasu," containing one Ohanefu 25-0 car, two Suhafu 14-500 cars, and two Oha 14-500 cars.
● Can be combined with the <97607> Basic Set to recreate the maximum 12-car formation.
● Recreates the Suhafu 14-500/550 series with their modified externally mounted vertical rain gutters.
● Newly manufactured parts recreate the modified engine-area configuration of the Suhafu 14-500/550 series.
● Newly manufactured underfloor equipment parts for the car ends—compatible with the TR217 (with cylinder) bogies used on the Suhafu 14-500/550 series—recreate the shape distinct from the Suhafu 14-0 series.
● Recreates the newer AU77-type air conditioner unit featuring dual fans.
● The Suhafu 14-500 car is equipped with a constant-lighting circuit board for the tail lights and train mark, including an ON/OFF switch.
● Tail lights and train mark on the Suhafu 14-500 car are illuminated by white LEDs.
● The train mark on the Suhafu 14-500 car comes pre-printed with "Hamanasu."
● The Ohanefu 25-0 and Suhafu 14-550 cars do not feature printed train marks or light circuit boards.
● Includes replacement TN couplers and parts for the Suhafu 14-500 car, and coupler-related parts for the Suhafu 14-550 car.
● Car numbers are selectable via transfer sheet (included with the Basic Set).
● Features a new power pickup system and black wheels.
