JR Series 225-100 Suburban Train ("Biwako-Otsu Murasaki Shikibu Train") Set
The Series 225-100 is a train type that debuted in 2016.
Fourteen 6-car sets of the 100-series variant, introduced from 2021 onwards, are currently in active service.
Since January 2024, the "Biwako-Otsu Murasaki Shikibu Train" has featured a special livery created in collaboration with Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, inspired by themes such as the "Ishiyama-mode" (pilgrimage to Ishiyama-dera Temple).
These trains primarily operate on the Kyoto Line, Biwako Line, Kobe Line, and Ako Line.
● Fall-prevention gangway curtains for the leading cars are separate parts; two types are included: one for standalone operation and one for coupled operation.
● The front destination display comes pre-installed with a printed "A-Rapid: Maibara" part; a replacement part is also included.
● Car numbers and wheelchair symbols are pre-printed.
● Headlights and taillights use white LEDs; fog lights use color prisms to reproduce an orange glow.
● Equipped with a constant-lighting circuit board and an ON/OFF switch for headlights and taillights.
● The TN Coupler (SP) on the cab end of the leading car is the <JC7271> type, featuring a mounting point prepared for a two-tier electrical connector.
● Motor equipped with a flywheel.
● Uses a new power pickup system and silver wheels.
● Equipped with an M-13 motor.
