SHINKANSEN-0

The 0-series Shinkansen saw continued additions and underwent minor modifications from when the Tōkaidō Shinkansen
began operations in 1964 until 1986. From 1981 onwards, the new final version - the 2000 series - was introduced, with a
total of 309 cars produced. The 2000 series, based on the 1000 series, featured smaller side windows and a wider seat pitch.
After the transition to JR, all units were inherited by JR Central and JR West, with the 0-series continuing to operate as the last
of its kind, before being retired in 2008.
