F-86F-30 SABER™ “U.S. AIR FORCE”
-The F-86 Saber is a jet fighter developed as a successor to the P-51D Mustang, and the prototype XP-86 made its first flight on October 1, 1947.
-The F-86E is an improved version of the first mass-produced F-86A, equipped with a J-47-GE-13 engine, and has improved control equipment and a movable horizontal stabilizer. Lessons learned from the air combat with the MiG-15 led to further modifications.
-This is the F-86F that first flew in March 1952, powered by J-47-GE-27, thrust 2,760 kg, armed with six 12.7 mm machine guns, and various missiles and bombs under the main wing. In addition, the wing's leading edge slat was abolished from the middle of production, the wing chord was slightly extended, and a boundary layer plate was attached to prevent wing tip stall. Here are the F-86F-25 and -35.
-As a result, the F-86F has better fighting performance than the Mig 15, and was able to achieve great results in the latter half of the Korean War, but after that, this wing chord extension type (generally 6-3 years ago It was found that using a leading edge slat together with the edge wing provides superior maneuverability at all speeds, so we installed the leading edge slat again. This is known as the F-86F-40.
-The F-86F-40 was the main force that the Air Self-Defense Force adopted from 1956 (Showa 31), and the domestic production of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was the latter model with this leading edge slat, but before that, the US Air Force A small number of aircraft that had been provided by the Japanese side had an old-fashioned boundary layer plate, and some were remodeled to a leading edge slat type on the Japanese side, such as the RF-86F.
-The Air Self-Defense Force's F-86F was more than 330 aircraft, including those provided by the US military, knockdown production and Mitsubishi licensed production.
