10-2111 583 Series "Wakuwaku Dream" 6-Car Set
KATO proudly presents a new addition to its 583 Series lineup!
Introduced in 1968, the 583 Series is a dual-voltage electric express train designed for both sleeper and standard seating. After the transition to JR, the 583 Series operated by JR East gradually retired from regular service in the 2000s, with only a few units remaining. These were primarily used as special or charter trains, and could still be seen operating in Tokyo and the Kansai area. In its later years, the train was fitted with a radio antenna on the lead car, and visible modifications—such as gray-painted bogies and underfloor equipment—were also made. During this period, it mainly operated on “Wakuwaku Dream” services, connecting areas like Akita and Aomori to Maihama in Chiba Prefecture.
① Replicates the N1 and N2 formations belonging to the Akita Rolling Stock Center, reproducing the appearance with the gray-colored underfloor section from the 2007–2015 period.
② Updated from previous products, this model recreates the conductor's room door with added handles and the black H-type rubber seals found on various parts of the train.
③ Recreates the pantograph with a snow-resistant cover and the collector shoe with two pipe-shaped horns.
Couplers: Intermediate couplings use tight-lock couplers (with hooks). Lead coupling section: dummy couplers.
Details:
• The KUHANE 583 includes the train radio antenna on its roof.
• The roof, bogies, underfloor equipment, and snowplow are recreated in the gray color scheme seen until around 2015.
• The lead car is reproduced without the JNR mark, and a small JR mark is printed next to the conductor's door.
• The train nameplate features interchangeable train nameplates, including "Waku Waku Dream," "Aizu," and "Charter Train." And includes "special service" (臨時) trains.
