The Lancer Evolution can be said to be the face of Mitsubishi's WRC (World Rally Championship). The highlight of the 13 years of works activities was probably from 1996 to 1999, when Tommy Mäkinen won the championship for four consecutive years. The Lancer Evolution VI Tommy Mäkinen Edition (TME) was released in 2000 to commemorate this accomplishment. A color package inspired by a works car and special wheels were incorporated to give it a look befitting a special edition, but the real purpose was to improve it to compete with WR cars (World Rally Cars), which have a wide range of modifications. The front bumper has improved aerodynamics by eliminating the fog that was a feature of Evo IV to VI. The engine is equipped with a titanium-aluminum alloy turbine that aims to increase mid- to low-speed torque and response, and new features include a special suspension that lowers the vehicle height by 10 mm. After the Evo VII, Mitsubishi also shifted to WR cars, so the Evo VI TME remains highly popular as the last pure Gr.A machine.
