The 50 series passenger car is a general type passenger car designed and manufactured by JNR mainly for commuting to work and school in local metropolitan areas in 1977. It was nicknamed "Red Train" because of its bright red paint.
Although it was operated all over the country, it gradually lost its place of activity. In 2001, after the operation of the general specification car with a red body was terminated.
However, some vehicles, such as passenger cars for "SL Mooka" and "SL Hitoyoshi," have been refurbished and are still active. The minimum mileage is R95, which is very compact.
