JR DE10-1000 Series Diesel Locomotive (Cold Region Type, Takasaki Rolling Stock Center)
The DE10 series was introduced in 1966 as a general-purpose diesel locomotive used for branch lines and freight car shunting.
Among the DE10 series locomotives owned by JR East, those operating mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area have a modified appearance due to the addition of a door to the front of the bonnet on the 2-end side, accompanying the installation of ATS-P.
In the Tokyo metropolitan area, DE10 series locomotives were stationed at Utsunomiya Depot and Takasaki Rolling Stock Center, but in 2017, all were transferred to Takasaki Rolling Stock Center.
The DE10 series locomotives stationed at Takasaki Rolling Stock Center are active as shunting locomotives within the depot and also play an active role in hauling engineering trains.
