JR Diesel Car KiHa 40-2000 Series (JR West Refurbished / "Capital Region" Livery / Okayama Diesel Car Depot) (Motorized)

The KiHa 40 series is a general-purpose diesel railcar that debuted in 1977.
The KiHa 40-2000 sub-series was introduced primarily for service in western Japan; designed for warmer climates, these units feature two-pane vertically sliding passenger windows.
Units owned by JR West underwent engine replacements and refurbishment work, resulting in significant changes to their exterior appearance.
Currently, the units assigned to the Okayama Diesel Car Depot (part of the Goto General Rolling Stock Depot) operate along the entire lengths of the Tsuyama Line and Kibi Line (Momotaro Line), as well as on the Kishin Line between Tsuyama and Chugoku-Katsuyama.
Distinguishing features of the vehicles in this region include the addition of jumper cable receptacles on the front end and the replacement of headlights with white LEDs, a modification implemented around 2017. ● High-Grade (HG) specification
