JR E233-0 Series Train (Chuo Line) Basic Set
The E233-0 series was introduced in 2005 to replace the 201 Series on the Chuo Line.
In preparation for the introduction of Green Cars on the Chuo Line, modifications to accommodate coupling of ordinary cars began in 2019. These modifications included the addition of platform detection devices and auxiliary power supplies, and the installation of wheelchair-accessible restrooms in Car 6, adjacent to the Green Car.
In preparation for the start of Green Car service in March 2025, two double-decker Green Cars will be coupled to existing 10-car trains from around October 2024, and 12-car trains will gradually begin commercial operation.
As the train length has been extended to 12 cars, the operating section will be limited to the corresponding Chuo Line section between Tokyo and Otsuki, and the direct Ome
Line section between Tachikawa and Ome.
