JNR Muroran Main Line Train No. 225
Steam locomotives, which had served as the primary motive power since the dawn of Japanese railways on October 14, 1872, saw their numbers dwindle due to post-war modernization efforts; they finally disappeared from passenger train service with the operation of Muroran Main Line Train No. 225 on December 14, 1975.
On that day, the C57-135 locomotive—adorned with a special headmark—hauled an eight-car passenger train, which included four additional cars beyond the standard formation.
● Recreates Train No. 225—JNR's final steam-hauled passenger train—which ran between Muroran and Iwamizawa on the Muroran Main Line on December 14, 1975, pulled by the C57-135.
● Newly manufactured model of the Oha 35-714, featuring the distinctive tapered "folded-end" (shibori-orizuma) body shape.
● Newly manufactured model of the Ohafu 62, featuring a wooden gangway door and large windows on the conductor's compartment end.
● Recreates the double-pane passenger windows found on all cars.
● Features authentic coloring: the Oha 35-714 is finished in blue, while the other cars are finished in brown.
● Car numbers are pre-printed.
● Equipped with a constant-lighting circuit board and an ON/OFF switch for the tail lights; the conductor's compartment end lights up for the Ohafu 33-1031 and Ohafu 62-13, while the restroom end lights up for the Ohafu 62-10.
● Utilizes a new power pickup system and black wheels.
