(HO) KIHA 58 Diesel Car (Pwd)
The Kiha 58 series is an express railcar (diesel car) that appeared in 1961. It was widely used on routes nationwide by painting vermilion and cream separately. For the purpose of eliminating the gap between electrified and non-electrified sections, it was made with indoor equipment similar to express trains. There are types such as Kiha 58 with two engines, Kiha 28 with one engine, and Kilo 28 for green cars. The new series Kiha 65 with enhanced output was also active in connection with the Kiha 58 series.
In the 1960s, the Kiha 58 series express diesel cars, which were active nationwide, mainly for express trains in non-electrified sections, can be said to have built an era.
KATO has commercialized the Kiha 58 series express railcar as a prototype of the driver's cab flat window type air-conditioned after the latter half of the 1965's, with the addition of the Kiha 65.
