In 1984 a reform was made as to freight transport. Ever since the same type of freight cars was coupled to each other to make a container train or tanker train. At that time, TAKI 43000 was the leading tanker. More than 500 cars were manufactured since the debut in 1967 and were used as tankers dedicated to gasoline transport across Japan. First, no other tankers were available than the blue tankers dedicated for Nihon-oil terminal, until black painted tankers for Nihon Sekiyu Yuso appeared later in 1974.
