Kato will make the N-scale model of popular series 221 in a new variation. Since the debut in 1989, series 221 has been in service as the main train operated as rapid trains on JR Kyoto line/Kobe line and as local trains on Ako line/Bantan line still playing an important role in the urban network even though it was no more operated as “Shinkaisoku” (New Rapid).
The train was renewed in 2013 with the top car equipped with safety shields (to prevent passengers from falling from a platform) and now with HID lights & fog lights as the headlights.
