KIHA 283 "OKHOTSK/TAISETSU" 3-Car Set /KIHA 283 "OKHOTSK/TAISETSU" 4-Car Set
Series KIHA283 is the pendulum express diesel train which made its debut as "Super Ozora" (Sapporo - Kushiro) in 1997. Sporting 130 kms/h operational maximum speed, it significantly shortened the travel time between Sapporo and Kushiro from 4 hours 25 minutes to 3 hours 40 minutes.
While traveling as "OKHOTSK/TAISETSU", it does not use the pendulum mechanism, operated in a 3-car consist (or 4-car consist with relatively more passengers).
The scale model produced this time does not incline on curves like the prototype to enable enjoying run in a short consist just like the real train.
