Different from ash pit track, this track is dug not only between the rails but also in the rail beds on the right and left sides of the track. This kind of track is mainly used in engine or electric car sheds or other facilities for train inspection. What’s more, it can be seen as the track line for supply of coal and water and for washing a locomotive in a large-sized steam locomotive engine yard.
