Micro Ace Series 167 Shonan color "Tekkamen" 4-car set.
[Actual vehicle introduction]
In 1965, the 167 series train based on the 165 series was introduced for school excursions.
Unlike the 155 series and 159 series, the roof is a normal roof, and only the pantograph part has a low roof.
The door is 700mm, which is the standard width of trains for school excursions.
The 167 series was deployed in the Tamachi train district and Shimonoseki depot, and was active in Shimonoseki-Tokyo ``Wakodo'', Shimonoseki-Kyoto ``Friendship'', and Shimonoseki-Hiroshima ``Nakayoshi''.
After that, after changing the paint to Shonan color and remodeling the air conditioner, all 167 series cars were handed over to JR East and JR West, except for one car that was scrapped in an accident.
Some 167 series seats were replaced with simple reclining seats, and the paint was based on ivory with orange and red strips under the windows and yellowish green strips at the hem, which was called "Tamachi color".
In response to the railroad crossing accident in 1992, JR East installed steel and stainless steel plates on the front of suburban and express trains to increase their strength in the event of a collision.
Until the general inspection, etc., it was called the "iron mask" because of its conspicuous silver color.
It is now completely scrapped.
