In 1963, Nippon Beer Co., Ltd. (currently Sapporo Breweries, Ltd.) launched the Hoki 6600, a 25-ton hopper freight car specialized in transporting malt.
The hopper tank body has a gently curved side with a roof, and the interior is divided into two front and rear sections.
By 1973, a total of 14 cars had appeared in 6 series.
It was originally black, but since 1978 it has been painted in Cream No. 4.
