It is necessary to replace it with either A022 "Snap-in Coupler European Coupler Set (Long)" (sold separately) or A040 "Arnold Coupler for Uncoupler" (sold separately).
It can be operated manually or electrically in combination with RC03 "Train Controller RC-03" (sold separately) or C002 "Turnout Switch" (sold separately).
