JR Electric Locomotive Type EH500

The EH500 is a two-unit articulated AC/DC electric locomotive introduced by JR Freight in March 2000.
Assigned to the Sendai General Railway Depot, EH500 units are primarily active in hauling freight trains between the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Tohoku region.
Among the "3rd Batch" units, the five locomotives manufactured earliest (Nos. 10–14) are characterized—like the 2nd Batch units—by thicker frames around the front headlight covers.
As of 2025, units 12–14 have been repainted into the new livery without the JRF logo, while units 10 and 11 remain in service with the traditional JRF logo.
