DE10-1000 Series Diesel Locomotive (Warm Climate Type)
The DE10 series was introduced in 1966 as a general-purpose diesel locomotive used for branch lines and freight car shunting.
It is the only JNR (Japanese National Railways) type vehicle that was inherited by all seven JR companies upon privatization, and is currently active in shunting and pulling freight and special trains for six of the JR companies (excluding JR Central).
A distinctive feature of the locomotives used in the Kyushu region during the JNR era was the omission of the white stripe between the headlights. This paint scheme was also carried over to the locomotives that were later moved to Honshu and remained in service until privatization.
