DD200-0 Diesel Locomotive
The DD200 is an electric diesel locomotive that appeared in 2017 as a replacement for the DE10. It is used throughout Japan, excluding Hokkaido and Shikoku, for hauling freight trains on branch lines and for shunting at freight stations, tasks previously handled by the DE10.
The body features a semi-center cab with a convex shape, similar to conventional diesel locomotives like the DE10. In addition to being used for shunting at freight terminals, it is equipped with various safety devices for hauling mainline trains, and is active in hauling freight trains over relatively long distances on lines such as the Kansai Main Line and Ishinomaki Line.
The same type has also been introduced on various coastal railways.
