211-3000 Series Suburban Train (Ryomo Line / *Yagasuri* Pattern) Set
The 211-3000 series is a suburban train featuring cold-weather/snow-resistant specifications and longitudinal seating; it entered service in 1986 to replace the non-air-conditioned, early-model 115 series trains.
While these trains primarily operated on the Takasaki and Utsunomiya lines, they were withdrawn from those routes in 2014 following the introduction of the successor E233-3000 series.
From 2016, they were reassigned to local transport duties around the Takasaki area, replacing older models such as the 107 and 115 series, with their formations shortened to four or three cars.
In 2021, one four-car set (Set A28) was repainted as part of a project to revitalize the area along the Ryomo Line. The new livery features a *yagasuri* (arrow-feather) pattern—inspired by local textiles—combining the Ryomo Line's signature yellow with green, representing the surrounding mountains.
These trains are currently active on the Ryomo Line, as well as other lines in the Takasaki area, the Shin-etsu Main Line, the Joetsu Line, and the Agatsuma Line.
