The 7000 series cars were introduced in 1988 (Showa 63) with the opening of the Hokushin Line between Shin-Kobe and Tanigami in the form of mutual access to the Kobe Municipal Subway Seishin/Yamanote Line.
Five 6-car trains (5-car trains at the time of opening) are still active in the memorable year of 2018, the 30th anniversary of the opening.
