The 500 Shinkansen which runs the top speed of 300km/h during commercial operations and retains popularity for its iconic shape is now being released with updated specifications and car number.
The 500 Series possesses excellent aerodynamics and is characterized by its sharp and dynamic form. Commercial operations at 300km/h began in 1997, and the train was used to cross the distance between Tokyo and Hakata in 4h until March 2010.

The N700 Shinkansen has become a representative vehicle for the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen. The N700A (series N700 1000) is a high-tech vehicle that has adopted the constant-speed driving mechanism based on the N700 series, but has been upgraded. The basic performance and appearance conform to the N700 series, but with the pursuit of more stable driving, with the new mechanism that supports the driver's driving duties, the "A" of "Advance" that means forward progress It is called by the nickname of N700A in addition to N700. Since its business debut in 2012 the numbers of N700 will be increased to replace the 700 series.
KATO adopts diaphragm couplers adopted in E5 and E6 systems that can be easily connected.

Blue old model coaches symbolizing 1970s are the vehicles added with modifications for improvements to catch up with the rising service level of the electric trains and diesel trains which appeared in 1950s at the time of train power modernization. The coaches changed in the color from the conventional brown into blue, one after another, making a fresh impression.
