The Odakyu 1000 series was introduced in 1988 (Showa 63) as the first Odakyu train to adopt a stainless steel body and VVVF inverter control. It is used on the entire Odakyu Line, and was once used for direct operation to the Chiyoda Line subway.
There are a variety of formations, including 4-car, 6-car, 8-car, and 10-car formations, and the 4-car and 6-car formations are also used in conjunction with other types of trains.
From around 2015 (Heisei 27), updated cars with renovated running equipment and interiors began operation.
The Odakyu 8000 series is a 20m 4-door train manufactured from 1982 (Showa 57) to 1987 (Showa 62) exclusively for the Odakyu Line ground service, and is a general-purpose train that can be used for everything from local trains to rapid express trains.
Of these, the 4-car 8052 and 6-car 8257 were delivered as "event cars" with a special paint scheme of orange, yellow, and brown on a white body from the start. They began commercial operation in April 1984 (Showa 59), and initially ran with a "Running Gallery" headmark, but in July of the same year they were nicknamed "Pocket Car." In 1987 (Showa 62), they were repainted in standard paint, and this paint scheme disappeared.
JR Kyushu's 817 series is a suburban type vehicle with 20m3 doors that was introduced to the Kitakyushu area in 2001 (Heisei 13), and is in service throughout Kyushu through variations and transfers to suit the line it is used on.
The 0, 1000, and 1100 series are convertible cross-seat cars with hairline aluminum finishes, while the 2000 and 3000 series are long-seat cars with white-painted aluminum bodies, and are organized into units of 2 to 3 cars. They can also be coupled with other models (813, 815, etc.) or coupled with several units to form long trains, helping to ease congestion in urban areas in each region.
The 1600 series, which runs on the Fukuhoku Yutaka Line, is a group of 1100 series with long seats, with 500 added to the original number.
