Kato 2021-1 C11 171 Steam Locomotive

Winter is already upon us in Hokkaido, in the north of Japan. The "Steam Locomotive Winter Wetlands" is a winter-only tourist train that runs on the Senmo Main Line between Kushiro and Shibecha. It's the only steam locomotive currently operating in Hokkaido, and features a series of passenger cars, including the "Tancho Car," with window-facing seats that allow passengers to experience the natural beauty of the Kushiro Wetlands up close, and the "Stove Car," with its interior fitted with a daruma stove. The locomotive, C11 171, was once preserved in a park in Shibecha, but was restored to working order in 1998. It has previously towed various event trains in Hokkaido, and is now dedicated to towing the train exclusively. One notable feature is that it reverses on the return trip.
