March 2027: JNR Class 9600 Steam Locomotive (Hokkaido Version) – TOMIX / TOMYTEC

JNR Class 9600 Steam Locomotive (Hokkaido Variant)
Production of the Class 9600 began in 1913, with the then-Ministry of Railways designating it as the standard steam locomotive for main-line freight service; with over 700 units built, it stands as one of the iconic locomotive classes of the Japanese National Railways (JNR).
In March 1976, a Class 9600 locomotive handled shunting duties at Oiwake Station—marking the final scheduled operation of a steam locomotive by JNR—thereby becoming the last active JNR steam locomotive (excluding those preserved for display).
