885 Series (Second Edition) "Around the Kyushu"

The 885 Series is a fleet of additional cars for the "Sonic" service, introduced in 2001, and compared to the first batch, features blue lines and redesigned headlights. In 2010, its logo was changed from "Sonic" to "AROUND THE KYUSHU." It has been in service under the names "Sonic," "Kamome," and others. After the opening of the new Kyushu Shinkansen in 2023, it now operates as "Sonic," "Relay Kamome," "Midori," and "Kasasagi." In March 2024, a new formation was introduced with flat plate-style bogie covers, replacing the previous spherical ones.

The updated 885 Series (second edition) "Around the Kyushu," which is a mainstay express train in the Kyushu region, will feature flat plate-style bogie covers as well as a different car number from previous releases, making it a great option for collectors of this model type.
