UP Excursion Train
●Union Pacific (UP) is one of the largest railroads in the United States, with a history dating back to the 1860s.
●Its historic locomotives and carriages are preserved in working order and used for holiday events and special trips.
●These tours invite the public to ride UP's preserved passenger cars, showcasing the history of railroading to railroad enthusiasts of all ages, with majestic steam locomotives like Big Boy #4014 and FEF-3 #844 as "living legends" coupled with modern diesels like UP's SD70Ace locomotives.
●Many of the UP's preserved cars are in museums with exhibits and memorabilia about UP's history, and the 1962 baggage car "Promontory" was added for use on the excursion train.
●The most thoroughly remodeled car was a former employee sleeping car. The interior was removed, a diesel generator was installed, and it was transformed into a power car that can provide service power for passenger trains when pulled by a steam locomotive.
●The other cars are preserved along with Pullman cars and ACF luxury passenger cars. UP continues to support and exhibit railways, and protects the history of UP passenger cars.

●The preserved locomotive #844 is currently based at the Cheyenne Locomotive Depot in Wyoming and is active in pulling event trains.
●The excursion train is used when the event train runs. It is made up of seven passenger cars that have been remodeled and preserved from the heyday of rail passenger transport in the 1950s. It is used to transport personnel and equipment necessary for operational support, and is also used as a museum car to introduce the Union Pacific Railroad, as well as a power car and a passenger car with an observation deck called a business car at the end.
●Also, a water tank car called a water tender, which carries water essential for the operation of steam locomotives, is also included in the product. This vehicle is essential for FEF's long-distance operation.
●KATO will produce the active FEF-3 #844, which was highly requested in the United States, along with an excursion train formation and a water tender. Please look forward to the commercialization of a large passenger steam locomotive following the GS-4.

●Power Car #207:
- Originally a baggage car and dining/staff dorm car, it was converted into a steam-powered car to provide steam and heat for the trains, which previously relied on steam locomotives.
- Later, it was converted again, and diesel generators were installed to provide electricity for the trains, and it is now used to power the steam-pulled excursion trains.
●Business Car #119 "Kennefick":
- Named after John Cooper Kennefick, who was president of UP from 1971 to 1983, the Kennefick is a Pullman-built business car used in excursion trains, and is one of nine UP heritage cars.
