OHaFu 33 Blue (Standard Type)

The OHa 35 series is one of the representative passenger car types of the pre-war Japanese National Railways (JNR); with over 2,000 units mass-produced, it holds the record for the highest production volume of any passenger car series in Japan.
Introduced in 1938, the series featured an angular end-wall design, a rounded roof, 1-meter-wide passenger compartment windows, TR23-type bogies, and a structure that made extensive use of welding.
Although pre-war production ceased in 1942, manufacturing resumed after the war. Due to factors such as material shortages and the evolution of construction methods, the cars appeared with unique characteristics that allow them to be classified as the "Post-war Type."
Regarding bogies, the TR34 type—an improved version of the TR23 (which used plain bearings) featuring domestically produced roller bearings—was adopted midway through production.
Widely deployed across the country, these cars could be seen in service everywhere, from express trains to local trains.
In this latest release, the roof ventilators are rendered as separate parts, allowing you to enjoy enhanced detailing.
The lineup includes the "Standard Type" in blue (reflecting modernization modifications) and the "Post-war Type" in brown (reflecting the pre-modification state).
You can recreate the transitional appearance seen from the mid-1960s onwards.
Many JNR-era locomotives are recommended for hauling these cars, starting with the <3087-1 ED71 1st Series> scheduled for simultaneous release.
