EF65-1000 Series Electric Locomotive
The first group of EF65-1000 series locomotives were introduced to replace the 500 series locomotives used on the Tohoku Main Line. Initially, they lacked sunshades, which were later added only above the front windows, but not above the headlights, resulting in a different appearance from locomotives 1018 and later. Locomotive 1001 was the last of this group to retain its JNR (Japanese National Railways) livery, remaining in service until 2008, and is currently stored at Tokyo Freight Terminal Station.
