ED76-0 electric locomotive (late model, JR Kyushu specification)
The ED76-0 series is an AC electric locomotive that appeared in 1965 to pull passenger and freight trains within Kyushu.
Based on the ED75 series, it was equipped with a steam generator to heat the passenger cars, and the body was extended accordingly, with a distinctive shape that included an intermediate bogie to accommodate the increased weight.
After the privatization of the Japanese National Railways, the vehicles belonging to JR Kyushu were mainly used to pull passenger trains, including sleeper express trains, but all of the vehicles were retired when these trains were abolished.
