Hakucho Add-On
The 485-3000 series is a limited express train that was introduced in 1996, primarily as a result of renovations to the 485-1000 series.
The Aomori Rolling Stock Center's 485 series consisted of 6-car trains for the "Shiratori" service and 4-car trains for the "Tsugaru" service (since 2010). In addition, intermediate car units were also deployed, and 8-car trains were sometimes added during peak periods and on weekends.
Around 2004, the undercarriage and bogies were painted gray, and in 2010, the train orientation was changed to unify the passenger facilities within the train with the 789 series.
These trains supported transport on the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line until the discontinuation of the "Shiratori" service in March 2016, following the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen.
